Alcohol consumption is widespread in our society, but you should never get behind the wheel after drinking. The 0.5 ‰ limit applies generally; from 1.1 ‰ absolute incapacity to drive is presumed (§ 316 StGB) — even without observable driving errors. For drivers in probation periods and under 21 years of age, the absolute alcohol limit is 0.0 ‰.

Drugs in road traffic

Any traceable amount of an illegal substance in the body while driving is a violation of § 24a StVG (administrative offence) or, with concrete driving errors or impairment, § 316 StGB (criminal offence). Consequences range from fines and points in Flensburg to licence revocation and prison sentences.
